Seeing a career in Information Technology focusing on back-end server infrastructure at a design and pre-implementation level: specifying hardware/software, project planning and generation of technical documentation, with emphasis on platforms based on Windows Server and Intel based HP/Compaq hardware.
·
Extensive 15 year experience in design,
specification, ordering and implementation of 300-500 seat back-end server
platforms based on Compaq Proliant hardware running Microsoft
Windows Server.
· Technical documentation using Microsoft Office: Word, Access and FrontPage to develop supporting websites.
· Enterprise-centric LAN attitude with regard to systems deployment, documentation, monitoring and maintenance
·
15+ year experience with PC based databases
including Microsoft Access and FoxPro (dBase III/IV)
·
Interest in new visual development environments
such as Microsoft Microsoft
Access, Visual Basic and Visual Foxpro
· Excellent writing, outlining and documentation skills (samples provided on request or visit website above)
· Development of many websites with Microsoft FrontPage and Microsoft Office (including database publishing with Access)
·
· Set standards and implementation for deployment of over 120+ Windows NT and Windows 2000 servers from 1996-present.
· Designed and implemented Local Area Networks using Netware 2.x, 3.x, and 4.x for 3,000+ PCs over 150 networks using switched Fast Ethernet, with prior experience such as Arcnet and token-ring. Developed strategies for mainframe access using SAA gateways. Quickly researched and provided connectivity to AS/400 systems. Designed wide-area networks using wireless technologies such as microwave and NCR WaveLAN products around the Netware Multi-Protocol Router platform. Designed strategies for high-speed backup systems, with specific emphasis on disaster recovery.
Designed, developed and maintained a complex database tracking system to monitor the brokerage of used Woodworking Machinery using FoxPro. Database is distributed and synchronized over 18 sites throughout the country. Database is published using RTF exports to Word for Windows for instant production of 150-page catalog published yearly, now published to the internet. Other responsibilities included installation of new Compaq LAN hardware running Windows Server. Currently involved in assisting with conversion of a contact management database to integrate into a custom quotation system to eliminate support secretarial staff. Also intimately involved in Internet development projects.
Developed an extensive Book Titles Management system including modules for tracking school Book Fairs, managing inventory flow, titles management, and vendor orders. Unique system features included open architecture allowing for dynamic system changes without recompiling using custom reports, procedures, browse/edit filters, and user created data entry screens. Application actually services 2 independent companies using one base of source code, simplifying development. Also designed and installed Netware 3.x and 4.x LANs to support the applications.
Gotaverken Energy Systems:
Installed 40 computer systems running database
and AutoCAD applications over a Novell Netware LAN. Installed (2) gateways to a local IBM System
36 and to a remote 3270 IBM host in
HDR Engineering / Doar and
Associates:
Used AutoCAD to automate production of instrumentation loop diagrams using extensive LISP and scripting techniques. Provided assistance with LAN installation and developed training programs for staff. Was staffed in position of entry-level Instrumentation Engineer. Worked on key dBase data development projects for project tracking.
· HP/Compaq Proliant server hardware: DL580, DL380, DL360
· Set server platform standards based on Pentium III and Xeon MP processors
· Windows Server technologies
· Netware 2.x, 3.x and 4.x (installation, upgrade, maintenance)
· Switched Fast Ethernet and wireless networking including Wi-Fi and previous NCR WaveLAN
· Windows and Arcserve 5.x and 6.x backup systems
· Extensive FoxPro DOS, minimal FoxPro Windows 2.6 and Visual FoxPro 3.0, Foxbase and original dBase III
· Microsoft Office 2000 and Office XP
· Microsoft Word for Windows (an early adopter of DOS Word in 1985)
· Windows, Windows 95, previous versions of DOS
· Windows NT and Windows Server
· Windows 95, Windows 3.1
· MS-DOS (all versions)
· Netware 4.x, 3.x, 2.x
· Compaq (desktop and server)
· HP DAT tape hardware, ADIC 12 tape DAT AutoChangers, Quantum DLT high-speed tape systems.
· Wi-Fi and WaveLAN wireless networking
Moved 700+ PCs, 20+ networks, 4 file servers, 20+ user hubs for Department of Social Services over the period of 1 week. Installed new BellSouth NMLI link (10 Mb/sec), new Fast Ethernet backbones, and a complement of Switching hardware to improve backbone performance.
Assisted in implementing local uptown fiber backbone, interconnecting 5+ buildings using switching technology. This project will save thousands of dollars in communications cost each year and will provide an infrastructure for high-speed data delivery for applications such as Tax, GIS mapping, Inter/Intranet, video, system backup, and mainframe access.
Assisted in installation of high-speed microwave (wireless
network) between uptown County government center
(CMGC) and Social Services on
Researched and rapidly installed Netware for SAA connection to Health Department AS/400 for reduction in twin-ax & 5250 hardware, maximizing benefits of shared LAN resources to the desktop.
Installed AT&T WaveLAN
Wireless 2 MBps networking product to interconnect
uptown government complex with
Installed enterprise-wide backup system using Arcserve. Standardizing on this product allowed centralization and monitoring of the backup consoles for over 20 file servers over various campuses. Developed training classes to instruct LAN administrators on proper backup procedures.
Over 7 years, upgraded over 35 file servers running Netware 2.x, 3.x and 4.x to newer faster hardware with larger disk storage capacity. As a key employee in these projects, an emphasis was made on exact data transfer, and minimizing system downtime.
